#61 Digital companions for skin conditions? Oliver Welter, Nia Health

A constant itching sensation that periodically intensifies, along with inflamed and irritated skin: neurodermatitis presents itself as a persistent skin condition. A flare-up, during which symptoms like itching and redness worsen, can have different causes and effects for each individual. To identify these triggering moments, accurate and detailed documentation is essential.

Neurodermatitis is a non-contagious and chronic skin condition that poses a significant health challenge, especially for children. Not only is the prevalence of the disease considerable, but it also severely affects the daily lives of those affected, causing a high level of suffering and distress.

“Many people are faced with the challenge of having to live with the condition. We don’t provide a diagnosis, but we help people with their therapy and in managing neurodermatitis,” reflects Oliver Welter, CTO and Co-Founder of Nia Health, on the founding story of the neurodermatitis app Nia.

Key question today: How are digital innovations and technologies changing the dynamics of healthcare, and what impact do they have on improving patient care and the efficiency of clinical processes?
